Horizontal Cocoplum (Chrysobalanus icaco 'Horizontal')

Florida Native Groundcover: Horizontal Cocoplum is a low, spreading cultivar of our native cocoplum, forming a dense, wide-spreading mat that stays between knee and waist height while reaching 6 feet or more across.
Glossy Evergreen Foliage: Rounded, leathery green leaves give this shrub year-round texture and a neat, tidy appearance in any landscape bed.
Spring Blooms & Fruit: Small, unshowy cream-white flowers appear in late spring, followed by pink-blushed white fruit that is both ornamental and a food source for local wildlife.
Tough & Low-Maintenance: Once established, this native plant is drought, wind, and salt tolerant, and adapts to a wide range of soils from dry to consistently moist.
Versatile Landscape Use: Its low, horizontal habit makes it a favorite for foundation plantings, dune stabilization, mass groundcover, and low, informal hedges.
Sun & Water: Performs best in full sun to partial shade, with average water needs while establishing and good drought tolerance afterward.
Cold Weather Caution: Hardy in USDA zones 10a-11; protect from hard freezes, as foliage can be damaged by extended cold below 30F.
