A Midwinter Night's Dram is High West's Rendezvous Rye finished in port and French oak barrels — the most anticipated winter whiskey in the country, released every fall in a numbered act and scene, and Act 11 is the 2023 season. High West was Utah's first legal distillery since 1870, founded in Park City in 2006 by David Perkins; Constellation bought it in 2016. Midwinter starts as Rendezvous Rye — a blend of MGP's 95% rye and High West's own 80% rye, 20% malted rye — finished for months in ruby and tawny port barrels and French oak, and bottled at 98.6 proof, body temperature, the Shakespeare joke on the label: this is Act 11, Scene 1 through however many they bottled; check yours. 88 Bamboo: black grape jelly, candied grapes, maltose candy, and honey, elegant without turning cloying. Bourbon Bossman on the series: dark fruit, raisin, fig, vanilla, rye spice, and orange zest on the nose, rye spice, fig, oak, port, and dark chocolate on the palate, and a medium-long finish of sweet port and raisin — Christmas in a glass. Honest note: this sells out in a week most years and Act 11 is already a back vintage — the one holiday whiskey that lives up to the hunt, for the rye drinker, the port drinker, and the gift that gets opened the same night. Neat, by a fire, in December. Midwinter, Act 11.Buy High West A Midwinter Night's Dram Limited Engagement Act 11 online with fast shipping right to your door.
