Mitchell & Son Red Spot 15 Year Irish Whiskey is the oldest whiskey in the core Spot range, revived in 2018 after more than fifty years off the shelf. It is single pot still whiskey from Midleton Distillery matured for at least fifteen years in a combination of bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry butts and Sicilian Marsala wine casks, bottled non-chill filtered at 46% ABV (92 proof).Rich amber in the glass, it opens with ripe red berries and orchard fruit, toasted oak and a touch of spice. The palate is mellow and layered: sweet sherry, nutty depth, a raisin-and-grape note from the Marsala, and creamy pot still spice, with a long, warm finish. It is a whiskey for slow neat sipping after dinner. This 750ml bottle is the pinnacle of the everyday Spot lineup and a serious gift for a pot still fan.
