You'll be surprised how many caravans and boats in Australia have this American-style water inlet installed. If your tank inlet looks like the one in the image, it has a 3/4 GHT (Garden Hose Thread) or NPT (US thread) — which isn't the same as the BSP fittings found in Australian hardware stores.
