Sound Like a Calf That Needs Help
A distressed calf doesn’t make one short mew and stop. It calls repeatedly—with urgency and emotion—as it searches for the herd. According to elk-calling expert Joel Turner, that high-pitched calf sound can trigger a powerful “come help me” instinct in cows and bulls.
Use the External Calf Call or The Harem to create drawn-out cries, double mews and emotional calling sequences that mimic a calf separated from the herd. Cows may come looking for the calf, bringing the bull with them—or a bull may approach the sound directly.
The key is to stay high and in the calf spectrum. Dropping too low can sound like a mature cow and create suspicion instead of urgency. When the situation calls for broader herd communication, add the External Cow Call to expand your range with realistic cow mews, moans and estrus whines.
What’s Inside
The Harem — Hands-Free Bite CallGo hands-free at full draw or while moving through timber. The Harem hands free elk call produces high-pitched, nasal cow mews and emotional calf sounds that blend naturally with other calls.

External Cow Call — Full Cow Vocal RangeAdd realistic cow mews, moans and estrus whines to create a more complete herd dynamic. Its intuitive design makes it easy to produce consistent cow elk sounds without using a diaphragm.

External Calf Call — High Pitch. High Emotion.Create soft calf mews, drawn-out cries, double mews and distressed-calf sequences with an easy-to-run external call. Its modified tone board and reed produce the higher pitch needed to stay in the calf spectrum.
