Lighting the Way Forward
The Sony FX5 with XLR handle lights a creative path for filmmakers ready to step into the next stage of their professional journey. It brings an advanced cinema look, deep control, and refined on-set operability together in a compact, mobile body so you can realize ambitious visuals with greater precision, control, and expressive potential.

5K full-frame fully-stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor for fast readout, high-resolution, high-frame-rate recording, with wide latitude and low noise that keep gradation smooth and textures natural even in high-contrast scenes.

BIONZ XR2 with integrated AI processing improves image, sound, communication, and operation while advanced subject recognition and Auto Tracing White Balance help you maintain accurate focus and color in changing conditions.

Full-frame Open Gate recording (5K up to 60 fps FF 3:2, 4K up to 120 fps FF crop) giving you flexible framing, slow motion, and workflows that match everything from anamorphic delivery to social formats.

Internal 16‑bit X‑OCN compressed RAW capture lets you record scene‑linear RAW internally, eliminating the need for an external RAW recorder while balancing image quality, file size, and grading flexibility with LT, C1, and C2 options.

Triple Base ISO (800 / 4000 / 12800) so you can match the camera to bright sets, mixed interiors, and low-light locations while maintaining clean shadows and wide latitude.

15+ stops of latitude with Dual Gain to preserve highlight and shadow detail, minimize noise, and deliver smooth, natural gradients ready for creative grading.

High frame rate capture up to 5K 60p and 4K 120p for striking slow motion in narrative, sports, or documentary work.

Precise, reliable AF and tracking with Real-time Eye AF for humans, animals, and birds, and Fast Hybrid AF using dense phase-detection coverage to stay locked on fast-moving subjects even at shallow depth of field.

Built-in anamorphic de‑squeeze (1.3x–2.0x) for a smoother on-set experience when shooting with a wide range of anamorphic lenses.

S-Cinetone and wide-gamut color bring Sony cinema color science to the FX5, delivering natural skin tones and smooth gradation in-camera, with S‑Gamut3/S‑Gamut3.Cine for easy matching to VENICE 2 in multi-camera shoots.

Three S‑Log3 modes (Cine EI, Cine EI Quick, Flexible ISO) plus support for up to 16 user LUTs, so you can capture with maximum latitude while monitoring your intended look on set.

5‑axis in-body image stabilization with an enhanced stabilization unit and Dynamic Active Mode to reduce handheld roll and shake, plus gyro metadata for refined stabilization in post.

Compact, lightweight flat‑top body with a stable grip designed for comfortable handheld shooting, gimbal work, and tight spaces.

Included XLR handle with 96 kHz / 32‑bit float audio supporting two XLR/TRS inputs and a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack, with up to four channels of high‑quality audio and independent 32‑bit float WAV recording alongside video.

BIG6 “HOME” screen inherited from CineAlta cameras, putting frame rate, EI/ISO/Gain, shutter, iris, LUT, and white balance on a single, touch‑enabled home screen for fast adjustments.

Optional DVF‑EL1 OLED viewfinder support for bright outdoor work, with a 3.5‑type HDR‑capable panel, DCI‑P3‑equivalent gamut, and 0°–90° tilt for comfortable monitoring.

Robust, sealed magnesium alloy body with improved dust and moisture resistance, plus an isolated cooling chamber designed for long, uninterrupted recording sessions.

For productions that demand both cinema‑grade images and flexible, professional 32‑bit float audio, the FX5 with XLR handle is a powerful, ready‑to‑roll package that fits easily into gimbal, handheld, and multi‑camera workflows.
